Bereavement
The loss of a loved one is a very traumatic time, to avoid further trauma for those close to the deceased, we ask family or friends to advise the pension scheme about the death of a pensioner, as soon as they can.
As the pension is paid one month in advance, either Stena Line or Mercer Ltd. or Dept. of Social Protection if an Irish State pension is being paid, should be notified as soon as possible after the death of the pension holder, as any overpayment of pension must be refunded before spouse’s payment is made.

Employee Number (to be found on payslip).
RSI number.
Death Certificate.
Marriage certificate
Birth Certificate of spouse.

Once RPMI has been informed, existing pensions will be stopped and new payments set up for beneficiaries where eligible. A rail pension may be payable to a Spouse, Adult dependant or Dependant children
