Locomotive Naming

A future Locomotive Naming for the BTPF

AN UPDATED MESSAGE FROM JOHN HARRISON,

NATIONAL CHAIRMAN

11th August 2020

Further to my previous message, you will remember that the loco naming event planned to take place at the National Railway Museum, York, on Tuesday 9th June 2020, had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Rail Operations Group, The National Railway Museum and ourselves are all still keen for the event to take place. We are now aiming for a date sometime in Spring 2021.

Whilst writing, I also have to advise that our next 4 monthly meeting at St Pancras Church Hall in London, scheduled for Thursday 8th October 2020, has been cancelled. I hope that our next 4 Monthly Meeting combined with our Annual General Meeting, will still take place as planned on Thursday 11th March 2021.

Something that definitely will take place, will be our short ceremony and laying of a wreath at our Railway Industry Memorial, at Alrewas in Staffordshire. All members are welcome to join us for this very pleasant event on Wednesday 11th November 2020 at 11.00. Please check the NMA website for their on the day access arrangements and current coronavirus distancing guidelines.

Could you please advise me of any branch meetings or events that you have to amend or cancel during the present emergency, so that your branch website page can be duly corrected and therefore kept up to date. I will produce further updates for you, as and when things become clearer. These will be posted here on the website and sent to our email contacts at the Branches, our National Officers, President and Vice Presidents.

In the meantime my wish for you all, is to Stay Safe.

Kindest Regards

John
