Locomotive Naming

A future Locomotive Naming for the BTPF

AN UPDATED MESSAGE FROM JOHN HARRISON,

NATIONAL CHAIRMAN

Due to the Coronavirus National Emergency, it will come as no surprise to you that the above event at the National Railway Museum, York, scheduled for Tuesday 9th June 2020, will have to be rearrangedThe Rail Operations Group, The National Railway Museum and ourselves are all keen for the naming to still take place.  The question of course is WHEN?  The answer is as soon as possible, when it is safe to do so.  Later this year is our preferred option, but we will continue as I am sure you are, to strictly monitor government advice.  If it has to go into 2021, it will be as early as is practicable, but we would prefer to avoid the winter months if possible.

This has come as a great disappointment for all of us and added to it, is the cancellation of our anniversary service which we hold each year on 22nd May.  This takes place at our Railway Industry Memorial situated at the National Memorial Arboretum, at Alrewas in Staffordshire.

Whilst writing, I have to advise that I have also had no other option but to cancel our next 4 monthly meeting at St Pancras Church Hall in London, scheduled for Thursday 9th July 2020.  I hope that our next 4 monthly meeting will take place as planned on Thursday 8th October 2020.  Our next National Meeting scheduled for Thursday 7th May 2020, I have also cancelled.

Could you please advise me of any branch meetings or events that you have to amend or cancel, so that your branch website page can be duly corrected and therefore kept up to date.  I will produce further updates for you, as and when things become clearer.  These will be posted here on the website and sent to our email contacts at the branches, our National Officers, President and Vice Presidents.

In the meantime, my wish for all of you is to Stay Safe.

Kindest Regards

John
