Railway Industry Memorial Dedication

BTPF Memorial Anniversary service

22nd May 2018

On the 22nd May the BTPF held an anniversary service of the dedication of the Rail Industry Memorial within the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas.

Just as we had a warm dry and sunny day when the Memorial was dedicated we enjoyed the same weather this year but we did have more seats to relax on. The service was attended by nearly 30 people including Liam Johnston the Executive Director of the Railway Mission who kindly took the photographs.

The moving service was led by Ralph Coleman, a Railway Chaplain, once again and our Chairman, John Harrison read a poem that was first used at the original dedication. Les McDowell, Vice President spoke” To the Fallen” followed by a minutes silence. John Harrison and Les McDowell then placed a wreath of white flowers at the Memorial in memory of all our Railway colleagues over the years.

During the service several members of the public stopped and listened and the National Arboretum Memorial’s road train also stopped until the service was finished.
