Wessex – About the Branch

(includes Basingstoke, Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Isle of Wight, Salisbury, Southampton and District)

Life Members and their spouses and our Honorary Members (widows or widowers of former Life Members) are welcome to attend all of our functions.

Visitors from other branches are welcome to attend our Coffee Mornings.  Please make yourself known to the Secretary.

Potential new members are especially welcomed at our Coffee Mornings, where details of joining arrangements are always available from the Secretary.


The Branch issues Newsletters to all members each March, July and November.  These include details of our social functions, listed in the Branch Diary below:

Social Functions

– A special warm welcome to any ex-Bournemouth and West of England members.
Venue – The Railway Institute, 1 Romsey Road, EASTLEIGH SO50 9FE.
Time – The Institute will be open from 12 noon for pre-lunch drinks (own cost) with a prompt sit-down and commence the meal at 13.00hrs.
– Please check your train times and arrive in good time – 10 minutes walk from station.
Choice of Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding OR Roast Chicken, both with separate help yourself roast parsnips and winter vegetables.
Sweet – Trifle or Apple Crumble & custard. Vegetarian option on request. There will also be tea / coffee, mints etc.
Cost – £15.00. inc. free draw & gratuities. (Your wine/beer etc is not included – that to be paid by yourself at the bar).
– Please pay your remittance making cheques payable to “The Old Southeronians’ Association” to Mr. David Rowland, 109, Salisbury Road, Totton, Southampton SO40 3HZ by Monday 31st. December 2018.

TUESDAY 12th. MARCH 2019
– Bournemouth Area Coffee Morning – The Station Hotel, Poole Road, Branksome – Opposite Branksome Station
– Doors Open at 11.00hrs. Coffee is £1.20. – Continuous Bar.
– Raffle.
This is open to all O.S.A. members especially the ex-Bournemouth members – just as it used to be.

COFFEE MORNING WITH FINGER BUFFET. NEW RAILWAY CLUB ROOM, FISHERTON STREET, SALISBURY commencing 10.00hrs. £2.50 inc.  payable on entry at the door to a club volunteer.
– Leave station via South Western Road and turn left then under the railway bridge and the club and front door is on the left in the service road just past the bus stop at the junction of Windsor Road.
– Raffle during the proceedings. We are catering for approx.. 40 so please try and support. The club do not make a profit on this event and is done especially for us. Bar open around noon.
Salisbury Market is on that day which you may like to visit afterwards – approx. ½ mile away.
